“Thanks to SAQ I am now happy in the knowledge that my home environment is safe for me and my baby”

Pregnant Antonia contacted SAQ after having her home decorated and new floors laid. Her concern was that the resultant smell from the paint and glue was linked to indoor air pollution, which could have a harmful effect on her and her unborn child.

After a free telephone consultation, SAQ visited her modern, second floor apartment to carry out an air quality survey.

The results showed a relatively poor indoor air quality throughout the property. Elevated levels of specifically identified volatile organic compounds, arising from the recent redecoration, and high carbon dioxide readings were both linked to the poor ventilation throughout the property.  Whilst her indoor environment posed no immediate danger to her health, there were clear concerns about the effects of prolonged exposure if no steps were taken to improve air quality.

Antonia’s SAQ air quality report clearly stated our findings and set out easy to understand advice and remediation measures. We provided further free telephone consultation and assistance in helping her take all the required steps to create a safer and healthier home indoor environment.

A follow up visit six weeks later showed a vast improvement in overall air quality, with VOCs and carbon dioxide levels falling well within the recommended occupational exposure limits.

We continue to work with clients like Antonia to help create safe and healthy homes for families.
